Arthur

As many of you know, last Friday my purse was stolen from West Macon ballpark. If this has ever happened to you, you know what a hassle it is...driver's license, keys, credit cards, checking account...all have to be replaced. They had already charged $550 on my card before we even got home from the ballpark. I was so angry! I mean, I will give you anything, but don't steal it from me! I really wasn't worried about the credit card stuff once we got all that squared away, but just the hassle of replacing keys, pics, license, etc. was not something I wanted to spend my time doing.

Then, last night, my friend Lucy called me and said, "did you lose your wallet?" I told her the story, then she told me that she had gotten a phone call on her cell from a man who had my wallet. I was so thankful! I called him, his name is Arthur and he works at a waste management company. Yes, he had my wallet with my license and my keys! He said he saw them in the garbage and thought that someone would definitely be missing them. So, he looked through what was left in my wallet and found a 478 number, and it was Lucy!

When I walked in the restaurant where I was to meet him, I just hugged him, and it was so nice to meet him! He restored my faith in humanity, and challenged me in the way I live each day. It would have been easy for him to leave the wallet in the garbage and continue in his business, but he took the time to dig it out, look for a number and contact me.

We come from quite different worlds, and I don't know any other way that we would have met, but I'm glad we did because I think I'm a better person for having met him. It was a great teaching moment with the kids last night as we reviewed the story of the Good Samaritan and thanked Jesus for Arthur and prayed for God to bless him.

The next time I have the opportunity to go out of my way for someone, you better believe I will. Thanks Arthur for reminding me what we are to be about on this earth!
